What Causes Persistent Tiredness In A 28 Year Old?

Hi. I just got off phone with my son. He is 28 y/o healthy, extremely fit individual. He is a strength & conditioning coach for Tulane University. He tells me he can t stay awake past 8pm. He feels excessively tired. He is well hydrated, its well, and has had a viral syndrome about 3 weeks ago (sore throat, cough, etc) No history of diabetes, thyroid, or hypertension. He takes no meds and has no allergies. He drinks a lot of H2o during the day. (at least 1 liter if not more) Again, he tells me after dinner he can t stay awake. This has been going on since after his viral syndrome. He has not had a lyme titer nor does he think he was exposed to any ticks. He s on the football field or in the weight room. Lastly doctor, he is an extremely fit kid. Probably less than 5% body fat. I ve asked to speak with the team doctor about his symptoms but I thought I would give this a try to see what your differential dx might be or the tests, if any, he should ask the team md about. Sometimes viral infections let to fatigue and overall feeling of tiredness or exhaustion. it can linger for weeks or months after you've been sick with a viral infection, such as the flu. This is known as post-viral fatigue.
He can use yoga and meditation or join a local group that helps people dealing with fatigue.
