What Causes Persistent Vomiting And Diarrhea For 7 Weeks?
I am a 49 year old woman in good health. I had a sudden onset of vomiting and diahhrea that has lasted 7 weeks now and tests show nothing. Testing included ultrasounds, endoscopy, stool samples and many many blood tests. What might the doctors be missing? I had a pain in the uppe right chest that lasted 2-3 days, doctors found nothing in x-ray or ekg. What could be wrong?
Based on the history you have shared, since gastric tract related. Isn't tests were normal and with such vomiting and diarrhea alongside chest pain, endocrine causes also need to be worked up including carcinoid syndrome or overfunctioning thyroid.
One more gastric related test can be colonoscopy with biopsy which may reveal any autoimmune or inflammatory condition of the gut. Usually infective diarrhea gets picked up on these tests which you have had already do other causes work up should be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
