Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Vomiting In A Person Suffering With Spina Bifida?
My son has been ill and not well looking for going on 5 weeks. He spent 2 weeks in the hospital for what they said was a GI virus and dehydration. Today he started throwing up again and his entire body is cool to the touch (even under his fleece jammies). Mommy instinct says there is something going on however clinically doctor says he s fine. Btw...he has CP, spina bifida pulmonary issues, seizures and Michelin Tire baby syndrome
As per my surgical experience, the persistent vomiting in kid with cerebral palsy, seizures and else indicate underlying neurology disorder affecting intracranial pressure more likely than GI virus only. However, details of any work up in the hospital as of lumber puncture, MRI or other relevant investigation results would be of great help to co relate further for the possible cause and guidelines accordingly. Yet, I do not agree with the simple GI bug or virus pausing these intense vomiting in a cerebral palsy child.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
