What Causes Persisting Bleeding After Surgical Abortion

I had a surgical abortion 3 weeks ago and I've been bleeding ever since, I was told that the procedure went really well and it was a success. I also took a pregnancy test and it came out as positive. I'm worried about this and don't what to do... can somebody help me please?
