What Causes Petechia Like Spots On Lower Arms And Torso?

I am seeing my physician tomorrow. I have recently developed what looks like petechae on my lower arms and on my torso. Is that always a symptom of something serious. I don t have any other new symptoms. I am a 58 year old fair skinned woman. Thank you

Hi,

In fact, petechiae is not a disease but a symptom of something else. A number of things can cause them to happen. Often these pin point spots can be a sign of different conditions some minor and other serious. Often petechiae are nothing to worry about and in most of the cases go by themselves. However, you are advised to see a doctor, if you are also having a fever, your symptoms are worsening or your spots are spreading or getting bigger.
