What Causes Phantom Smell?
For about three days now I have smelled a smell which I can only describe as a mix between gas and smoke. I haven t been around either one, and when I ask others if they can smell anything, they say no. I notice the smell usually when I start to sit down and relax. It s very strange and sometimes becomes so powerful that I start to get a headache. Can you please tell me what it might be? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

The smell which is not there as perceived by your nearby people as called Phantosmia.
The commonest cause of such weird smell is infection in the nose, sinuses, lungs or oral cavity including the teeth and all.
I would advise you to get and ENT Endoscopy done by an ENT Surgeon, may need additional investigations and treatment.
