What Causes Phlegm In Mouth From Chest Constantly Without Cough?

My father aged 67 years, keeps getting phlegm risen to his mouth from his chest continuously.
No coughing, just phlegm automatically comes into his mouth.Spits it and it comes again.

He has a history of TB 10 years back. Which seems to have left a scr in his lungs as per the x ray and local doc advice. Even after trying all medicies, there is no relief to it.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of phlegm in mouth from chest constantly without cough which is due to upper respiratory tract infection which has spread down the respiratory tract and to surroundings and giving these symptoms.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist/pulmonologist for proper examination as you have long standing history for TB. Doctor may order throat swab test, chest X-ray, blood test and culture test and may prescribe antibiotics at least for 15 days ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) along with decongestant and anti inflammatory. Do warm saline gargles and take steam inhalation on daily basis. Avoid sharp and spicy food and cold carbonated beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
