What Causes Pieces Of Skin Hanging In Tonsils While Having Mono?

My daughter has had MONO for several weeks now and has been hospitalized from so much swelling in tonsils. Now that her tonsils have gone down she has weird pieces of skin hanging down that s bothering her .is this a reason to be alarmed.. She is still not well from this and we are concerned.
