What Causes Pimple Like Bumps On Scrotum?

Hello. I am 18 years old. Now first of all I ll come out and say this before I talk about my problem. This has been an on going problem for about 2 years now and I m too scared to go to the doctor and get checked out because I don t wanna know if I have herpes or aids. Okay, so, I have lots of pimple like bumps on my scrotum and I ve been popping them regularly, now, there are a couple of pimples that are very big and white and have been on my scrotum for over a year. These pimples do not pop on their own and in order to pop them I have to use a ton of pressure in order to pop them. The smaller ones are white and look like they are about to burst, so I pop them and the substance comes out in a stringy form, like a pimple would. Now the bigger ones.. I haven t been able to pop some of them (I only have a couple of bigger ones) and I just recently popped a bigger one that was at least a year and a half old and green pus came out of it.. lots of it.. please tell me what I m infected with, am I going to die? IMPORTANT: Once I pop them, it seems like the pus just comes back into the same white spot.. and the big one that I popped a couple days ago is already hard and I can t pop it but I can definitely feel that there is something inside of it.

Hello,

You have a lot of pimples and bumps on scrotum and you keep popping them up regularly. You are suggested not to touch, scratch or pop the pimple like bumps, it will only cause spread of the infection. Get clinically examined by a urologist and get STD tests done. Your symptoms may be indicative of genital warts, genital herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, human papilloma virus (HPV), etc.

Till the reports come you can apply antibacterial ointments like Neosporin or Bacitracin on the area affected. You can take a course of doxycycline orally to help reduce pimples. Cold compress may give relief. Take regular bath/shower, use a gentle soap and a washcloth to rinse the area around the pimple when you shower or bathe.

If sexually transmitted disease is confirmed you will be treated with antibiotics, antivirals, analgesics, etc. Applying acyclovir ointment on the affected area may help. You should get your partner also tested and treated. Stay away from addictions if any. Avoid any sexual activity or self pleasure for a couple of months while you are being treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
