Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pin And Needles In Legs Radiating Down The Toes Along With Numbness?
I suffer from a strange and painful sensation in my legs, feels like concrete running through them, pins and needle sensation down to my toes and my toes are constantly numb, if I cross them they get painful and if I don t they are still the same, sometimes painful when walking or just sitting, I am diabetic and suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and am 49 years old.
Thank you for question As you are diabetic , I assume that you are taking metformin for your sugar control. Metformin can lead to vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to a feeling of numbness, pin and needle sensation in lower legs.
Secondly you are suffering from rheumatoid arthritis which may cause painful, pin needle sensations in hand and feet.
Thirdly thorough neurological examination is also a essential in your case hence consult with your physician and ask him about B12 levels. Regards
