What Causes Pin Prick-like Pain In The Leg?

I Have been having pain in my left heel and it was very painful to walk for a week or so. My heel is still tender but now I have pin prick-like pain in my lower left leg. I have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes. Could this pain be related to that or some other cause? Should I seek emergency care tonight??
