What Causes Pink Eye, Runny Nose And Fever In A Child?

My 19 month old son has viral pink eye and a runny nose. I have been treating it with breastmilk in the eye which worked with my other son but now all of a sudden he has a fever (102). Can t pink eye rarely go behind the eye? Do you think this is whats happened?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

He is experiencing viral upper respiratory tract infection with eye affection (conjunctivitis).

Should see his pediatrician as might need any prescription meds orally and locally. Keep eyes well clean, can use chamomile tea together with breast milk.

Keep well hydrated, apply vapour rub on chest and back to relieve breathing.

Use nasal saline for a congested nose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
