What Causes Pink Vaginal Discharge After Insertion Of Mirena?
I had the Mirena iud placed on Dec. 19, 2016. My period started on Dec. 22, 2016, and I ve just stopped completely bleeding on Jan. 1, 2017. My periods usually lasts 7 days. However, I m having some light pink milky discharge! Is this normal and how long can i expect this to happen?
Hormonal IUD (intra uterine devices) can cause uterine infection and this can lead to pinkish white discharge. So better to consult gynecologist and get done clinical examination of uterus and microscopic examination of discharge.
You may need antibiotic cream and tablet. Avoid masturbation or sexual intercourse for few days. Keep proper hygiene of private parts. Avoid moisture and perspiration in private parts.
Wear only cotton undergarments. Don't worry, you will be alright with all these. If not improving in 2 weeks, you might need to take out Mirena.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
