What Causes Pins And Needles Above The Knee?

I am a healthy 60 year old who exercise 5 times per week. At night , my left leg above my knee tingles, feels like pins are poking me and often feels hot. During the day , it feels odd to the touch like on the verge of some time of numbness. My iron levels are normal. I take no medication . I take a multi vitamin daily vitamin, calcium biotin and glucosamine. Any ideas.
