What Causes Pins And Needles In The Feet And Pain In Toes?

Hi thank you. I travelled home from holiday last night - just a 4 hour journey. About 10 minutes after I had disembarked I got pins and needles in my feet. When they started I had just joined the queue to show my passport & I had to keep moving my feet to finally get relief but since then I have had these needles and pins - they come and go. I also have pain in my toes as a matter of fact I experienced this and also my feet were itchy during the second half of the week but I just put it down to the heat. Also at times today my feet seemed to be icy cold but were burning at same time. I find all this strange because I am a very healthy and fit 63 year old female. I would appreciate your opinion.

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

The possibilities are -

1. Venous or lymphatic stasis due to prolonged journey and immobility.

2. Idiopathic peripheral neuropathy.

3. Restless leg syndrome. Please discuss this with your PCP.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
