MY SON 18 YEARS OLD GOT CAUGHT BY COLD AND COUGH AND DIGNOSED PLUERAL IN RIGHT LUNG. HOSPITALISED AND TREATED WITH TAPPING AND GIVEN HEAVY ANTIBIOTICS FOR 7 DAY HIS TLC/WBC WAS 11900 BEFORE HOSPITALISATION, 17400 ON FIRST REPORT OF HOSPITAL, 5TH DAY REPORT 11600, AFTER STOPPING DRIP ANTIBIOTIC AND ORAL ANTIBIOTIC STARTED IT WAS 12300, DISCHARGED AND THEN AFTER GIVEN 5DAYS ANTIBIOTIC COURSE IT IS COMING 19500. MY QUESTION IS ISIT POSSIBLE OR ANYTHING SERIOUS, WHAT COULD BE THE REASONS AND WHAT SHOUYLD BE MY NEXT STEP?
You have not mentioned whether your son is still suffering from cough and whether there is refilling of rigg pleural fluid.. If cough and sputum production is present I would suggest you to get sputum culture report done and if there is increase in the pleural fluid then it should also be tapped and sent for the culture and also ADA level which helps to diagnose tuberculosis.. Your son needs an appropriate antibiotics after confirming the organism leading to al these problems..
