Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am in Tae Kwon Do. I was hit in the face twice. One blow onto my cheekbone causing minor scrape then another onto my lip, enough to cut my lip a bit, not really bleeding though. Felt ok for a few minutes then noticed ringing in my ear (which I have had before but not this loud) and sensitivity to sound. My ears feel plugged and inside feels cold. Balance is a little off too. Concussion? Person I was sparring with wore pads, aka, sparring gear.
The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as ETD that is eustachian tube dysfunction. Eustachian tube is a small tube that connects middle ear to oral cavity and balance the pressure between the two . ETD occur can due to mucous produce by infections like upper respiratory track infection , post nasal drip and sinusitis. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Your doctor will examine your ear canals and eardrums, and your nasal passages and the back of your throat. Doctor may recommend you few exercises like blowing air with closed nose and mouth ,swallowing, yawning or chewing gum . Doctor may also prescribe decongestant , antihistamine and antibiotics . Doctor may also implanting pressure equalization tubes and advice you to take steam.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
