What Causes Poking Sensation Behind The Ear?

Lately, for about 4 days, I have been experiencing a poking sensation behind my left ear. It doesn t hurt, it is just there. Feels like the post of one of my earrings is touching my head or as if a couple pieces of hair are stuck to my scalp............however, neither is the case

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sinus involvement with blockage of eustachian tube and raised pressure on ear drum can cause such feeling. In such a case, inhalation of vapor would help along with treatment of sinus. In cervical spondylitis pressure on nerve supplying the part can cause such feeling. Physiotherapy and avoiding bending of neck would help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
