What Causes Poor Appetite And Dehydration In An Infant?

Hi doctor,my 6+ months boy (8.6 kg)started solid for 1.5 months.he was an exclusively bottlefeed baby.now he is completely refusing his bottle...and getting dehydrated.i also changed bottle nipple size and formula,but it didnt help.pls sugest me how can i cope with this or continue the bottle....thanks..

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you can use other means to hydrate the baby.

If he is taking other meals you can increase fluid contents of formula foods and give it with spoons and encourage him to take fluids with cups or spoons; if refusing bottle feed as dehydration should be avoided at any cost.

If intake is still low paediatrician review to rule out any systemic infection and to see oral hygiene to rule out any local infection or inability to suck nipple feed.
