What Causes Poor Appetite, Burning Throat, Weakness And Fatigue After A Bee Stung?

I got stung by a few bees back on 7/11/16. One particular bite swelled pretty badly and had a golf ball sized blister. I went to the doctor and was prescribed Prednisone and Bactrim. Ever since Monday 7/18/16, I have not been the same. I have lost my appetite, burning throat, a feeling that something is in my throat, weakness, fatigue, and also mild chest pain. If I get up to fast or am on my feet for a long period of time, I become a little light headed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms you describe can be side effects of Bactrim.
Bactrim is an antibiotic that is very helpful to fight certain infections and is generally well tolerated by patients. In rare cases, it may cause dizziness, pain in the tongue and throat, weakness, low appetite, etc.

I would recommend you to just watch how you are going to be in the next week. Meanwhile, make sure you eat well, keep yourself well hydrated and rest at least 8 hours a day (sleep).
If you are not better in a week or you notice any worsening you will need to talk to your doctor.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
