What Causes Poor Concentration And Temper Tantrums Post An Injury In A Teenager?
Hi my name is David, and I am trying to find out about my granddaughter, age 17, who was injured in school last year by another student knocking her out with a heavy object(?) and since then she seems to one track minded and any distractions from what she is doing and she has to stop whatever to concentrate on what is being said or done. Ex: watching TV and someone starts talking she has to stop the show to listen to what is said or the talking stops. She has been displaying very angry tendencies since the accident and seems she has trouble controlling it. What do we check for?
Concussions obviously cause mental changes. The most common is not wanting to be around stimulation. But concussion symptoms go away in weeks to months. An event can make people notice traits, things, that were always present and so look new but not be new. Stress and emotional upset from trauma typically last a long time.
I cannot say definitely in this situation without being there. Serious brain injury usually would have a lot of signs including ones like a stroke.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
