What Causes Poor Hearing After Taking Azithromycin?

HI IAM AM 70 AND MY DR. GAVE ME A SCRIPT FOR AZITHROMYCIN 250 MG MY HEARING IS VERY VERY GOOD BUT I NOTICED AFTERTAKING 1 TABLET MY HEARING IS NOT AS GOOD. HAD TO TURN THE TV SOUND TO 30 WHEN I CAN NORMALLY HEAR IT AT10 ALSO THE MICRO WAVE IS OUNDING SOFTER. AT FIRST I THOUGHT AS I SPOKE I WAS HEARING AN ECHO IN MY RIGHT EAR. IS THAT NORMAL? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, I must suggest that you stop taking azithromycin for now, return to your physician and ask for a replacement drug. Senineural hearing loss is usually reversible but may be irreversible on low dose azithromycin, if taken over longer period.
Please do not avoid this as a routine or minor side effect.
