What Causes Poor Memory And Attention While On Wellbutrin?

Hi, I ve been taking Wellbutrin since Nov 2016 for depression. I lost my daughter to Breast cancer June 2016. Dr thought it was a good idea, but I find myself the last 2 weeks forgetful and having hard time focusing on things ar work and home. I m 64 and obese. Should I stop taking the Wellbutrin?

Hello,

Sorry to hear of the sad demise of your daughter. Grief and depression is a normal response to such incidence. However, if too much, we may advise antidepressant like Wellbutrin.

Loss of concentration and memory impairment are known side effects of the said drugs. Howe'ver it's less likely with Wellbutrin then other antidepressant but still possible, but it may also be caused by depression itself. So it's important to assess if the symptoms are related to the disease or the drug. If it's the drugs, it important to quit it then. So discuss it with your doctor who would assess you in detail and decides accordingly.
