What Causes Poor Memory?

I am a 52 year old school teacher. I have been having problems remembering where I place items and student names. My co-worker has also been noticing my forgetfulness lately and has become concerned. Is this a normal thing to be happening at my age?

No it is not normal. You have to visit a neuropsichiatric doctor and do some tests, probably even a brain MRI. Alzheimer desease is to be excluded.
