What Causes Popping, Crackling And Swooshing Sound In Ears?
Hi, I have a hole in my left eardrum. Recently I started to hear popping and crackling in my ear like something was moving around in there. I took a course of antibiotics and the sound stopped. A few weeks later my ear ached, so I went on another course of antibiotics. I have finished my antibiotics and now have the same crackling, popping, swooshing sound again. Is there an expanation for this and a cure?
Antibiotics alone do not help for healing of ear inflammation. You need to take an anti-inflammatory medicines, decongestants. Ear drops as needed, say for example anti-fungal if there is fungus in ear.
Send the pus for culture and sensitivity. CT scan of mastoid and Audiometry will help further evaluation along with proper clinical evaluation by an ENT surgeon. All these will help to have further decision for medical and surgical management as needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
