Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was driving down to LA from the AV and my ears felt like they needed to pop. This has always happened during my travel and usually I have no problem. But this time my left ear wouldn t pop, and when it seemed to pop, the sound was still muffled and has continued to be all day.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain blocked or clogged feeling in ears along with muffled hearing is commonly seen when there is blockage in the Eustachian tubes due to fluid accumulation in the tubes and is commonly seen secondary to ear and throat infection..
As it is complete day and the ears are not popping, you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can advise you to take a course of oral decongestants like Pseudoephadrine/Phenylephrine and nasal decongestants like Xylometazoline.. In case if there is infection antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkiller can also be advised.. In case if there is no improvement surgical drainage can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
