What Causes Popping Sensation And Pain In The Wrist?
Last night I moved my wrist funny and it popped really loud and hard and it hurt a lot. The pain went away after a few minutes and then was fine all day today. (I work as a waitress in a restaurant so I carried plates all day) But then I went to the nail salon and has my wrist resting and it started to ache and gradually got worse. It hurts to move my wrist now (mainly when I lift my hand back) and grip things. It also has this little click if I move it certain ways. What could be wrong? There s no swelling or bruising just pain and clicking

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. The popping sensation in ankle you have could be due to movement of muscle tendons causing friction/ inflammation.. so it is recurrent, Rough joint surfaces can be other cause with same symptoms. Escaping gases from synovial fluid can cause such popping.. but it mostly is painless. muscle relaxant ointment & anti inflammatory pills like Ibuprofen over the counter should give relief in a few days.. in case there is no relief / pain worsens you should consult orthopedic doctor. Thanks
