Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I have had this crackling popping sensation in both my ears and sometimes there s water that comes out.I was treated for eustachian tube dysfunction because of my allergies though I have no symptoms anymore. I don t have any ear pressure just the crackling sound. What should my next Step be? Is the discharge a good sign ?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of popping sensation in the ears which are pointing towards a condition known as ETD that is eustachian tube dysfunction that connects middle ear to oral cavity and balance the pressure between the two.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses on ear and consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor will examine your ear canals and eardrums, and your nasal passages and the back of your throat. Doctor may recommend you few exercises like blowing air with closed nose and mouth, swallowing, yawning or chewing gum. Doctor may also prescribe decongestant to reduce the swelling of the lining of the tubes, antihistamine and antibiotics. Discharge seems to be due to midle easr infection.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
