What Causes Popping Sound In Ear After Tympanoplasty?

My son just had a tympanoplasty last Friday. He went to an amusement park today and reported that he rode a rollercoster and felt a pop in his ear that he had the surgery in and now he hears like he is in a barrel. Does it sound like he has ruptured the eardrum again?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Maybe it is possible with trauma-induced tympanic membrane injury or middle ear effusion or eustachian tube block.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Please get it done ear examination by ENT specialist then he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
