What Causes Popping Sound In Left Ear?

3 months ago I woke up with mild ear pain that went away after a few hours. The next morning I woke up with laryngitis that lasted a week and a sinus infection soon followed lasting 3 weeks. Ever since then I have been hearing popping sounds in my left ear( the same ear that was hurting previously). But there is no pain. It sounds sort of like air bubbles popping at the surface of water. The past few days the sound seems slightly muffled but it s only noticeable at night when I sit or lay down to relax. why could this be? Should I be worried ?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain popping sounds in ear along with muffled hearing along with a history of laryngitis and sinusitis can be due to Blocked Eustachian tube or clogging of the eustachian tube with mucous..
Muffled hearing is also due to it..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and otoscopic examination of ear and Audiometry can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics and decongestants oral as well as nasal for relief from blockage and infection..
In case if does not resolve with medication then surgical drainage of the fluid along with placement of Pressure Equalization tubes can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
