What Causes Popping Sound In Lower Back While Deep Breathing?

When I lay down on my back and breath deeply, I have a popping feeling such as an air bubbles feeling in my lower /mid back. But when I sit up and breath deeply it doesn t pop. This has been going on for months. What could this be? My doctor said it s muscular. Does that sound right?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I agree with your doctor that the symptoms can be related to a muscular issue. I suggest to do a chest xray and a column xray for further evaluation. Meanwhile, I suggest using a muscle relaxant such as Baclofen three times a day. I also suggest using magnesium supplements for muscle relaxation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
