What Causes Popping Sounds Of Jaw When Ever I Open Mouth?

My jaw bone (TMJ) pops? So about a month ago I was eating breakfast and my jaw starting popping. Whenever I would open my mouth to get the spoon in. It didn t hurt but was uncomfortable and annoying. My mom is a nurse so she told me to take some Advil. I did and it went away. Last night I woke up and had to yawn and it popped again. I do have this bad habit where I rest my head on my hand. Could that be the reason why it pops? My dentist said that was probably why. I also have a small jaw is this my jaw growing? Please help me!

Hello!Thank you for posting here.

This is chronic dislocation of your jaw. This cannot be because of hand kept under your head.Do not over use pain killers. Self care practices must be included.Do not open the mouth very wide for eating or chewing.Go for a stress free life style.Extreme cases can be handled with a surgical method .But, i suggest only self care now as it is very limited.
Check if you grind your teeth during night. If yes, you must take a night gaurd to control these forces.

Regards.
