What Causes Positional Vertigo And Hearing Loss?

I have positional vertigo. At the same time this happened to me, I lost my hearing. Some hearing has come back in my left ear. Will ever get my hearing back, like it used to be. I should tell you though I wear hearing before this happened. However, I am hoping my hearing will return at least as it was. Thanks, Helen Peters

Hi, Thanks for your question. I can understand your concerns. Would you be able to tell if you were also experiencing ringing (tinnitus) in your ears and whether the vertigo is continuous or episodic?

Answer: There could be many causes of vertigo. As in your case it is accompanied by hearing loss, most probably it is either meniere's disease (usually with tinnitus) or labyrinthitis.

Labyrithitis has good prognosis and most patients recover in few weeks with restoration of hearing.

On the other hand, meniere's disease does not have a treatment. But the severity of vertigo can be reduced with treatment.

Hope this helps.
