What Causes Post Coital Bleeding?

I have had bleeding after sexual intercourse for the past 2 days. the bleeding only lasts for a few mins then stops. It doesnt hurt during sex. My boyfriend was away for a month, could i just be bleeding because im not used to it yet? Or is this something more serious? Thank you.
