What Causes Pounding Headaches And Elevated BP While On Losartan?

I have been taking quinapril 40mg & hydrochlorothiazide 25mg for blood pressure. My doctor recently took me off the HTZ because of low potassium & dehydration. He change it to losartan potassium 50mg. Been on it since last Thursday. I now have a pounding headache & my bp is 184/114. Would it hurt to take one of my HTZ to get my bp down until I can see my doctor?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

No, it would not hurt if you are able to see your doctor within the next few days and your potassium was not too low.

Quinapril should not be used with losartan so an alternative combination should be used.
There is increased risks of side effects.

I hope this helps
