What Causes Presence Of Urine Pus Cells Post A TURP Procedure?

Hi Doctor My Father underwent TURP 2 weeks back. I got Urine normal tests and found he still has plenty of Pus cells. I am worried. Its it normal?. His frequent urination problem during night times has reduced after operation. Please suggest. Regards Sunil

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Presence of pus cells following procedure like TURP could indicate presence of urinary tract infection.
However, if it is not symptomatic, then there is nothing much to worry about it right now.
You can repeat the urine routine examination after a week to see for the improvement.
Meanwhile, he can continue to take prescribed medications and drink good quantities of fluids.
If the pis cells are raised persistently, you need to consult Urologist for evaluation and management.
