What Causes Pressure Above The Nose With Hot Flashes Having A Maxillary Sinus Polyp?

I have begun feeling pressure right above my nose for about a week now. It comes and goes throughtout the day. It is sometimes preceded by something like a hot flash. (I am a 76-year-old female) While the pressure is on, I usually have a feeling of light-headedness or unsteadiness. I know I have a maxillary sinus polyp. I occasionally have a few blood drops in my nose.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that the maxillary sinus polyp that you have had is infected now and causing pressure, lightheadedness along with blood drops in the nose. I would recommend that it is time you should visit a maxillofacial surgeon for follow up investigations regarding the polyp such as blood tests, x-ray, MRI etc. If the polyp is the reason for the symptoms indeed, surgical procedure for its removal is advised.

Hot flushes you are feeling might a fever like symptom that is common in cases of infections. Over-the-counter painkillers that suit you can be taken for the relief of symptoms till you visit the specialist.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have further questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
