What Causes Pressure During Urination And Spotting After Surgical Abortion?
I had a surgical abortion approximately 3 weeks ago with very light bleeding after for a few days. Last week, I noticed more discharge, had mild itching, and a very mild burning sensation for a day or so. I took an OTC medication (AZO) thinking I may have a UTI. It seemed to help quite a bit but this evening I noticed there is bright red blood when I wipe... it seems to not be coming out vaginally but Im not sure? I am scheduled for a follow up appt later this week. Also, I do not have any fever (that I am aware of), no kidney type pain/abdominal pain or cramping.. just a strange pressure like feeling when I urinate. Im kind of freaking out b/c of the blood and am not really sure what is going on.
You symptoms are very consistent with a UTI because AZO does help with bladder pain but will not cure a true infection. You should call your doctor and see if you can get a prescription for antibiotics or a test of your urine to confirm the infection. UTI's frequently cause pressure with urination and blood at the end of the urine steam, especially if you are urinating very frequently. In the meantime, drink cranberry juice (as it makes your urine more acid, which helps to combat infection) and if you develop fever, back pain, or foul smelling vaginal discharge seek care from a doctor urgently. I hope this was helpful and good luck.
