I have been sick with a typical cold for 5 days now. I have had lots of pressure in my ears. I tried to equalize my ears after getting out of the shower. The left one popped. The right one popped slightly, followed by sharp pain, and I got very dizzy for approximately 10 seconds. I am pain-free, but have decreased hearing on the right.
Hi . Welcome to the healthcare magic All these symptoms of pressure in the ear and decreased in hearing is because Eustachian tube dysfunction... Secondary to common cold...you know there is something called Eustachian tube which connects the ear with back of the nose..which helps in ventilation of the ear ..required for normal function..during common cold due to edema of the eustchian tube impairs its function so that there is negative pressure builds up in the ear ..causing discomfort..less hearing... I recommend tab levocetrizine with phenylephrine combination one tab at night after food for 7 days... And oxymetazoline nasal drops ...three drops in each nostril three times daily for 7 days...and Valsalva maneuver... Pinch and close your nostril and close your mouth and same time blow air with closed nose and mouth...you can hear a pop up sound..when the ear enters the ear and ventilates it...then release ...repeat this 7 to 8 times a day for 7 days... Get well soon... Happy to help Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS
