What Causes Pressure In The Abdomen?

I have been experiencing the sensation (or reality) of abdominal fullness for the past several months. I have attempted to rule out constipation through the use of stool softeners, exercise and lots and lots of fluids, along with eating very healthy (fiber, fruits and vegetables, etc.) Perhaps a few months ago I might have been constipated, but at this point, it is hard to imagine that I would be with how healthy I have been. My urine is basically clear...that s how much water I ve been drinking. Along with this has been hemorrhoids (the intensity has varied and they seem to have gone away in the last few weeks, but a month-2 months ago they were quite bad and incredibly painful. I do not presently have any abdominal pain, but did a few months ago. I do not presently have any rectal bleeding or blood in the stool, but did experience a few bouts of this about 1-2 months back. My stool is normal sized at present and not difficult to pass. It is your regular brown color and does not have blood in it as far as I can tell (and I have been paying close attention). I have lost between 5-10 pounds in the past month or so. I did cut out cheese because I thought it might be part of my constipation, and I have been drinking so much water and exercising that perhaps the weight loss is due to changes in exercise, diet or both. Even before I lost the 5-10 pounds, I was not overweight. I m 5 9 and presently weigh 155. No headaches, no fevers. I just had a lipid profile done and my results were great. I do tend to feel full easily and seem to eat less than the people around me, then again, some of my family probably eat too much. I do get some pains (seemingly gas) in my rectum, which is relatively new for me. The (seemingly) gas pains are much less intense over the past few weeks than they were about a month or more ago.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, the pressure in abdomen in your case is seemingly related to alterations in gut flora, digestive enzyme disturbances or else.
* I would recommend to undertake a basic ultrasound evaluation of the abdomen & pelvis for further management guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
