What Causes Pressure In The Bladder And Pain Around The Kidney Area?

My daughter, 19 yrs. old, had an ultra sound done of her lower abdomen, pelvic area. The diagnosis was PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome, but after reading the symptoms, she doesn t have any except weight gain. She is having pressure on her bladder, and infrequent kidney pain. She is straining having a bowel movement. We thought she had a UTI because of the bladder pressure, urinalysis showed no bacteria, even though she had a fever of 100 degrees, and the doctor said that her white cell count was elevated. After five days of antibiotics, she still had pressure on the bladder. That is when the ultra sound was ordered.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the problems your 19 years old daughter is going through.

The pain and pressure on her bladder, and a fever of 100 degrees with elevated white cells count are due to PCOS she was diagnosed with ultrasound examination.

Cystitis is also to rule out although no bacteria in urine.
If she is sexually active, vaginal swab testing should be run to rule out vaginal infection (candida or bacteria) and get treated adequately.

Keep taking antibiotic as recommended by her doctor. Take cranberry supplement to stabilize pH of urine and ease bladder pressure. Spasmex or buscopan can help with pain she is having.

Wish fast recovery.
