Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pressure In The Head After A Head Injury?
My nephew was in a motorcycle accident a week ago today. He is not breathing on his own. he is sedated because of his head injury. he had a bleed on his brain along with other injuries. they were going to try and have him breath some on his own today but because the pressure on his brain was so high they are going to wait. he has not moved since the accident. should he be showing some responses by now or shouldn t his brain pressure be lowing by now
If the bleed is the cause for his elevated blood pressure then may need to removed clot by craniotomy. In case of concussion may cause oedema and temporary loss of brain function may recover slowly.
Your neurologist may do craniotomy in case of uncontrolled intracranial pressure.
Please consult your neuro physician he will examine and treat him according to his condition and amount of bleed, the volume of bleed, the age of the patient associated risk factors etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
