Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 86 year old mother fell last night and hit the back of her head..she had a bump which we put ice on and it has gone down. She feels a little off balance when she walks. Her pupils are good and her reflexes are good. She says the front of her head feels a little bit of pressure. She slept through the night and is sleeping in a chair right now. Should we wait to see how she is doing?
You can wait for her improvement. She has not lost consciousness after fall. So urgent investigation doesn't need just now. Allow her to take more rest. Avoid strenous activities.
Ice wrapped cloth can be applied over the bruise. However, of within next few days condition deteriorate or vomiting like symptoms occur then consult to a neurologist for detailed evaluation and CT scan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
