What Causes Pressure In The Upper Abdomen And Excessive Burping?
My 91 year old mother has had really bad pressure in her upper stomach with a feeling of having to burp, to the point where she forced herself to vomit multiple times, to relieve pressure. It was ok for a week and just happened again after eating some soup. She is very uncomfortable.

Hi, Thanks for the query.I understand your concern As age advances.. the bowels get sluggish & this results in poor digestion. Food is left in bowels for a long time.. causing excessive gas formation.. leading to all of the trouble. -She should taking small easily digested food in frequent servings (3 hourly).Drink sufficient water. - Let her avoid the food that is not digested well. (the soup..more starchy food.. fast food,certain vegetables,lentils. raw salads,. ) left over food etc -She can add digestive enzymes preparations over the counter &stool softners as per need &have regular clearance of bowels. - She should keep on moving.. doing her daily small tasks. -Should not sleep after eating.. should walk slowly making 30-50 steps./Sit in propped up position of csn not walk. *Thus few life style changes &few medicines ,mild regular exercise would help to relieve the symptoms.
