What Causes Pressure On Chest While Having High Blood Pressure?
Hello, Im a 29 year old male. I am currently taking blood pressure medicine and on a sleep apnea machine. Last night it felt like someone was stepping on my chest. Sitting upright was the only way to get relief. I took my blood pressure and it was 130 over 90. Do you know what it was that I was experiencing?
Hi welcome to HCM. Chest discomfort in your case could have resulted mostly from the positive pressure ventilation, being delivered the sleep apnoea machine. Its advisable to adjust your the pressure ventilation settings to avoid chest discomfort. An x ray chest would be helpful to document the airflow pattern in the lungs. The blood pressure in your case seems within the normal range to rule out its impact.A 2 dimensional echocardiography would help to rule out organic heart disease.Continue your blood pressure medication.Avoid excessive intake of salt ,keep it under 6 gm/day.Drugs like bronchodilators and low dose diuretics will help to to diminish your nocturnal symptoms to a large extent.Consult your chest physician for further assistance. Thank you.
