I am a 41 year old female, who has been getting over a had cold the last couple of weeks. Yesterday was the best that I have felt. Now it feels like someone is pushing against my windpipe. It started a couple of hours ago. I haven t been coughing lately. It really hurts, what could it be?

Hi,

If the pressure feeling in the windpipe is on and off lasting few minutes to less then half an hour and then they come back and you feel fine in between then very likely these are panic attacks due to anxiety.

If the pressure feeling is constant for hours especially if you find it very difficult to breath with no improvement in between and/or you notice any swelling in the lips or eyes then an allergic reaction, severe form, might be the cause in this case you need urgently to see a doctor as it may be life threatening.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
