What Causes Prolonged Heavy Menstruation And Left-sided Abdominal Pain?

I have been bleeding for going on three weeks. I started my period on time like normal and it never stopped! Some days it will be really dark brown blood then some days it will be red blood. I am not on birth control, my husband and I are trying to conceive. 6 months ago I had surgery to remove endometriosis. I have been having slight pains in my lower left side of the pelvis area. Is this something to be concerned about?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Heavy menstruation and pain is probably due to endometriosis or hormonal imbalances. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
