What Causes Prolonged Light Bleeding With Easy Bruising?

My period started a few weeks ago right when it should have, but never got heavy and I never got cramps or the usual pms symptoms. The bleeding is super light, enough so that only the corner of a tampon will have a pinky nail spot of blood after 6 hours. It s now day 14 and the bleeding has bee consistently light, but hasn t stopped. I ve also been bruising very easily all over my legs and arms, even after getting a tight hug or squeeze. I took a pregnancy a few days ago which came out negative. Any advice?

I have gone through the query and understood your concern. In the current scenario, it is very unlikely that you could be pregnant. You seem to be going through some hormone imbalance. I would ask you to see a specialist for further evaluation and management. Blood counts, coagulation profile, urinalysis, sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route are helpful to clarify the situation. Local causes like infection, erosions and polyps also should be excluded. You would need styptics and hormone courses to control the spotting if everything else is normal. Please maintain a healthy diet and a healthy weight. Hope this helps.
