What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding When Under Stress?

I moved in with a female friend a few months ago her periods went irregular and so did mine.I have since moved out my last period was 3 days long and very light however the cycle I have now has lasted 9 days.I ve also been under a lot of stress the last few weeks.is this normal

your periods could be heavy and prolonged due to disturbance in hypothalamopitutary axis due to stress.
stress causes hormonal imbalance.
please check for thyroid levels and get pelvic ultrasound done to rule out other pathological condition besides stress.
