What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Bleeding With Clots?
Hi I am a healthy 40 year old and I have been having a period for 38 days straight. Some days are light but most have been very heavy and I pass several clots a day...very large clots like the size of my palm. With the bleeding filling up a pad in less than a hour in some cases. I have called my doctor but she can t see me for a couple weeks. What do you think?

It seems that due to pre menopause age there might be having hormonal imbalance or having some problem in uterus producing profuse bleeding.
This requires urgent attention to stop bleeding as it might cause severe blood loss.
Consult Gynaec as soon as possible and get examined and investigated.
If bleeding does not stop might require some surgical intervention like Hysterectomy.
Ok and take care.
